Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Credential Buddy iOS application and the credentialbuddy.com website (together, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Credential Buddy is a personal record-keeping tool for medical professionals: it helps you log surgical cases, track credentials, and prepare credentialing materials. It is provided by Credential Buddy (“we,” “us”).

2. Not medical advice; not an official record

The Service is an organizational tool. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and nothing in it should be relied on for clinical decision-making. The Service is not an official system of record: your institution’s, the ACGME’s, and licensing bodies’ own systems remain the authoritative records, and you are responsible for verifying any data you submit to them — including entries prepared by the Safari autofill extension, which you must review before submitting yourself.

3. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter and for complying with your institution’s policies and applicable law when recording case information. The app is designed to be used without patient names or direct identifiers; do not enter protected health information that identifies a patient. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device, your Apple ID, and your encryption passphrase. If you lose your passphrase, end-to-end encrypted data cannot be recovered by anyone, including us.

4. Accounts

Sync requires signing in with Apple. You must provide accurate information and be at least 18 years old. You may delete your account at any time from Settings; we may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or abuse the Service.

5. Subscriptions

Some features require a paid subscription (“Pro”), billed through your Apple account. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled in your Apple ID subscription settings at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Prices may change with notice; refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. If a subscription lapses, your data remains yours — paid features become read-only or unavailable, but you can still access and export your data.

6. Your data

You own the content you create in the Service. You grant us only the limited license needed to store, sync, and back up that content on your behalf. You can export your data at any time.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, and content (other than your data), is owned by us and protected by intellectual property law. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, or resell the Service except as permitted by law. CPT® is a registered trademark of the American Medical Association; Credential Buddy uses independent plain-language procedure descriptions and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the AMA or the ACGME.

8. Acceptable use

Do not use the Service to violate any law, infringe others’ rights, interfere with the Service’s operation, or attempt to access other users' data.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. Dictation and automatic categorization are assistive and may make mistakes; you are responsible for reviewing your records. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we recommend keeping your own backups and exports.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR PROFESSIONAL STANDING, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR $50 IF YOU HAVE PAID NOTHING. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

11. Apple

These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide support for the app and is not responsible for it, but Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. Your license to use the app itself is Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which applies to your download of the app to the extent not covered here.

12. Changes and termination

We may modify the Service or these Terms; material changes will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date, and continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. You may stop using the Service at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including 6, 7, 9, and 10) survive.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nebraska and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
